Carelessly Aimed Words

Anger is an explosive emotion. Be careful of the words you speak to others.

"But, everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and Slow to become angry. For the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God."  James 1:19-20

Anger is such an explosive emotion, happens all the time, and yet is so rarely spoken of. If left unchecked... It's consequences can be severe. It can destroy marriages, ruin careers, end friendships, and - worse case, raise a new generation of people who do not restrain their anger and unleash it on the closest around them- not unlike unloading a gun with their carelessly aimed words.

I am all but a carbon copy of my father.  I watched him struggle to control his temper as I grew in my parents household. And, though I am very much like him, and wrestle with much of the same tendencies; I thank God that he was constantly working in this area; which set the stage for me to do the same.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, thank you for the beautiful example you gave me as parents. Thank you that it wasn't easy for them. Thank you that I saw the imperfections and the struggles; and that through YOU and the strength that you give- We are able to conquer anything... Even our tempers. Amen
