Cannot Be Shaken

When you build on the rock of Jesus' foundation, you can't be shaken.

Hebrews 12:26 (NIV®)

Now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”

If you haven’t noticed, there’s a whole lot of shaking going on in the world. The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken so that what cannot be shaken may remain. In a stable, secure environment it’s hard to tell what is temporary and what is eternal. But when things begin to shake, it’s obvious what is temporary and what is permanent. These shaking times are not reasons to be overwhelmed with fear and anxiety—they are invitations to put your trust in God’s unshakeable Kingdom.

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are eternal, unchanging, unshakeable. Give me discernment to see the difference between the temporary things of this world and the unshakeable things of Your Kingdom. Give me a greater desire for those unshakeable things than for the temporary things that tempt me away. And even amidst the shaking, help me trust in You. In Jesus’ holy name, amen.
