Can you hear Him?
Take the Bible in your hand and look at it. Turn it over, flip through the pages and touch the words. It looks and feels like any other book, but it’s not.
God’s Word is not limited. The Voice is not limited by ink, paper and leather. The Bible is a conduit. With a yielded heart, the Holy Spirit and the Living Word you can hear God.
The Bible in your hand is the expression of the will of God breathed out in the form of a book. Speak His Word out loud and your heart will burn within you. He is here. Rest in the nearness of His presence. He speaks. He speaks to you. Can you hear Him?
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow Me…(John 10:27a)
God’s voice is alive and free. It is as free as the Sovereign God is free.
The power of God’s Word is in sync with God’s Word spoken out into the universe. It is the present existing voice that makes the written Word powerful.
The Creator did not come in physical contact with His creation fitting it together, building it up or shaping it into form like some carpenter. He spoke and it was. There is power in His spoken word.
By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of His mouth…For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm. (Psalm 33: 6 and 9)
The spoken Word, the voice of God, is powerful to create. Flee to the Secret Place, close the door and come into the presence of the living God. Here He will create in you a listening ear.
He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed. (Isaiah 50:4b)
Breathe out your prayer and into your world His word. He listens and you speak. He speaks and you listen.
God’s written word spoken out creates fellowship in your yielded heart. He is present, approachable and here. Can you hear Him?
He is not a silent God who suddenly began to speak in a book. When the book was finished He did not move back and say, “It is finished. I’m done.”
He is not silent. He has never been silent. It is not in His nature to be silent. He speaks volumes into the yielded heart and whispered words of wisdom are captured in His presence.
The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (John 6:63)
The Bible is His continuous conversation with us. It is the infallible declaration of His mind placed into familiar human words for us to hear – for us to know. It is not a book once spoken, but words spoken again and again. The Word once spoken continues to speak.
Do you want to know Him? Then approach that open Bible in your hand expecting Him to speak to you. It is a voice – a word – the very word of the Living God. Can you hear Him?
When Your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight…(Jeremiah 15:16a)
