Can’t Stop Talking

Description

Once you delve into the Word and discover the hope, riches and power that are made yours in Christ Jesus, you won’t want to stop talking about it!

Want to know what’s important to another person? Listen.

Maybe it’s sports, or music, or family. But if you give them your undivided attention long enough, they’ll spout off so much information about that topic, it will make your head spin. Did they gain all that knowledge at one time? Probably not. Instead, the love they have for the subject drew them to learn more and grow in knowledge. It should be the same with our Christian faith.

God’s love for us, and our love for Him, should drive us to spend time reading and studying His word. And as we learn and apply His truth to our lives, we can’t help but tell others about Him.

In Dr. Stanley’s message, “Enlightened Saints,” he prays the same prayer for us that Paul prayed for the believers in Ephesus—that “the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe” (Eph. 1:18-19).

Paul wanted the believers in Ephesus to know that being a Christian meant more than simply receiving salvation. With enthusiasm and passion, he inspires us all to discover the over-and-above qualities of our faith. And as we learn these things, they’ll spill out into our conversations, prayers, and lives.

What do others hear when they listen to you? It’s okay to enjoy other aspects of life like gardening, work, or friendships. But our faith has the potential to be infinitely more exciting. And if it’s not yet, just wait. Once you delve into the Word and discover the hope, riches, and power that are made yours in Christ Jesus, you won’t want to stop talking about it!
