Burden-Bearing As Part of Salvation

We have to decide which is greater—our problems or our God.

It would be nice if God would carry His fair share! Sometimes Christians feel that they are carrying the weight of the world or at least a significant portion of it. They are too busy shutting their eyes and putting their hands over them to see by faith that God is carrying the load. But he not only carries the burden, he also provides deliverance.

Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, The God who is our salvation. Selah. God is to us a God of deliverances; And to God the Lord belong escapes from death. (Psalm 68:19-20)

The Hebrew word for bearing a burden is used for pack animals who carry the burdens of their owners. Such a humble term is used of our God. Day by day he picks up our burdens and carries them. Wasted energy and preoccupied worry is the lot of the Christian who does not exercise faith in a faithful God. We have to decide what is greater, our problems or our God. One can almost picture a Christian arguing with God when God picks up our burdens. Our unbelief makes us think that without us fretting about them, they will not be dealt with. As 1 Peter 5:7 says, we can cast our anxieties upon him because it is a concern to him about us.
