Built to Last

As Christians, we can be certain of absolute, total, and future stability. Heaven is built to last!

The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. Revelation 21:14

Fires and floods are devastating. In minutes an entire neighborhood of homes can be lost. How many times have we sat transfixed by images of total destruction on our TV or computer screens? Everything gone. All that’s left is rubble.

In contrast, how reassuring it is to know that, if you’re a child of God, you have a home built to last, not just for a lifetime, but forever! The apostle John, describing the vision of heaven God gave him, said the wall of that home has twelve foundations and the foundations are decorated with every kind of precious stone. Twelve foundations! So heaven is not only spectacular in its beauty — it’s unshakable. Permanent!

Today we live in a very unstable world. We can never be sure of the future for ourselves or for the next generation. But as Christians we can be certain and sure of absolute, total future stability. Heaven is built to last!
