Building a Future

Students at the Nyaruguru Vocational Center in Rwanda perfect their skills as carpenters.

Students come from all over Rwanda to this vocational boarding school. It’s a model that the Rwandan government would like to see duplicated in every district.

“We need to get jobs for all our youth,” says Nyaruguru mayor Francis Habitegeko.

“Three years ago, this was a forest, now it’s a training center. Now this place has 49 graduates. You can just imagine what will happen in 5 years.”

The school has everything needed to turn out qualified carpenters, electricians, and plumbers -  good equipment, skilled personnel, and large, beautiful facilities.

And one thing more, the mayor says: spiritual nurture. We will have pastors come every Sunday to preach, and we’ll put in a chapel for prayer.

He thanks World Vision and the U.S. church and donors that made the school possible.
