Bring Your Aggravations to God!
Do you ever feel shackled by your worries, overwhelmed by the pressures of everyday life, overrun to the point of saying you’ll never make it? Praise can loosen these chains that are suffocating you, allowing you to catch your breath, because you’re then centered on Him instead of what’s oppressing you.
Praising God enables you to divert your gaze from your worries and focus it on the Lord. When you proclaim how great God is, at the same time, you’re saying how small your worries are in comparison to the greatness of God. Praise empowers you to release everything to God and concentrate on Him rather than on your problems. Your heart is no longer oppressed ... it’s unburdened.
It’s this inner freedom that Jesus is preparing us for by inviting us to praise. In the Bible, we can read, “ 'I create the fruit of the lips: Peace, peace to him who is far off and to him who is near,' Says the Lord, 'And I will heal him.' ” (Isaiah 57:19)
Thus, praise isn’t reserved for “those who are doing well.” Whatever the state of your heart or the season of your life, I invite you to bring your aggravations to God, even if you have no desire to praise Him at all.
