Malachi 3:6-10 (NIV®)
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”
My understanding of Scripture is that the first tenth of what comes to us belongs to God. Some people claim that’s an Old Testament principle that doesn’t apply today. But Jesus didn’t set aside the principles of the Old Testament—in almost every case, He extended them. I can tell you from personal experience that God is faithful. There have been times when I have had to make life choices based on resources, and God has been faithful to me as I have honored Him. Honor the Lord with what you have. You can trust Him. It will make a difference in your life.
Father, You are so patient with me as I continue to learn Your lessons about generosity. Teach me, Lord, and show me Your faithfulness and provision for me, and I will praise You all the days of my life. In the name of Jesus, amen.
