Bird Feeder

Description

We need to take a lesson from the birds! We need to enjoy the gift of God in His Word and not try to do everything on our own.

I have a bird feeder right outside my kitchen window. I LOVE watching the birds fly in and out all day, grabbing a bite here and there. I love how the daddy bird sits on a nearby branch while the mommy bird gathers her meal. After she is finished, he swoops in and eats his portion. Today, as I was cleaning dishes in the sink, I realized that the birds rely on the bird feeder for their food. They could dig up worms or find other ways to feed themselves, but isn’t it nice that the bird feeder is always there, full of bird seed and ready to give nourishment.

It is the same way with our Heavenly Father. He gives us nourishment whenever we want to grab it; our food comes from His Word. How often do I go to his Word to fill my soul? Do I waste time and energy trying to feed myself? Do I work extra hard trying to fill the void in my life, when all I have to do is read the Bible and instantly be refreshed?

I need to take a lesson from the birds! I need to enjoy the gift of God in His Word and not try to do it all on my own. The Bible is mine for the taking. I need to start taking it everyday!
