For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:10
We often measure people by their behavior. The measuring stick God uses is the heart. As I was praying about my own heart, the Scripture in Romans 10:10 came to my mind. I realized all at once that my heart is so important to God ("above all else, guard your heart," Proverbs 4:23) because it is where my belief in Jesus is stored. I remembered that it is in my heart where God’s Word is hidden (Psalm 119:11) and that I find God when I seek Him with all of my heart (Jeremiah 29:13).
People can’t see inside our hearts to know what we believe, but beliefs are revealed in our behavior on a moment-to-moment basis. Will your beliefs make a difference in how you treat the person at the drive-thru for lunch or in the grocery line? Will your beliefs impact your relationship with your spouse? Will others recognize what you believe by your behavior?
