Beauty for Ashes

The ‘good news’ is Jesus died to redeem the whole world. We surrender our sin-sick ashes and He makes a beautiful home within us.

“Forget your own people, also and your father’s house; So the King will greatly desire your beauty” (Psalm 45:10-11 NKJV).

In the beginning, Jesus is there with God creating the world. Long before His divine birth in Bethlehem. God created everything through Him, and nothing was created except through Him (John 1:3).

Jesus willingly left heaven’s splendor and ivory palaces in glory to live among mankind. He brought beautiful gifts to place within the souls of men---eternal life, redemption, sanctification and glorification.

Jesus became a baby in Mary’s womb by the Holy Spirit. He came into the very world He created, but the world didn’t recognize Him and His own people rejected His love (John 1:10-14).

The prophet Isaiah foretold Jesus’ arrival 700 years earlier “He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to comfort all who mourn, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness” (Isaiah 61:1-3 NKJV).

We’re dirty. Sin causes uncleanness and our self-made righteousness is a filthy rag (Isaiah 64:6). The ‘good news’ is Jesus died to redeem the whole world. He takes our wretchedness upon Himself and gives new eternal life.  We surrender our sin-sick ashes and He makes a beautiful home within us.

All of Self, and none of Thee...

Some of Self, and some of Thee...

Less of Self, and more of Thee...

Lord, Thy love at last has conquered:

None of self, and all of Thee”.
