Bearing Good Fruit
John 15:16 (NIV®)
“I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit.”
Before the earth ever saw its first sunrise or sunset, God chose you and planned that you would have a part in growing His Kingdom. And He has gifted you with a unique toolkit of spiritual gifts, personality, temperament, skills, and abilities that will help you. I will never play tight end in the NFL, but I have other gifts and abilities that are uniquely part of who God made me to be. When we’re birthed into the Kingdom of God, a significant step in our journey of discipleship—of practicing faith—is to say to the Lord, “I want to understand who You’ve made me to be, not just who I want to be.” Let’s rejoice in the liberty of that, and go and bear fruit!
Heavenly Father, thank You that You chose me to go and bear fruit. I submit my life to be used for Your purposes. I thank You that I have been uniquely created with gifts to be used for growing Your Kingdom. I want to understand who You’ve made me to be, not just who I want to be. In Jesus’ name, amen.
