Be Still and Know

Description

We can only know God if He makes Himself known. He doesn’t knock us off our feet or bruise our rebellious bodies; He comes silently and whispers into our willing souls.

We have formed an opinion of God based on our limited knowledge. In ignorance we have tried to understand the mystery of it all.

We are comfortable with blind eyes, adjust our deaf ears and close our minds. If we don’t have to think about it then we don’t have to confront it – it is not there.  When confronted with the truth we still don’t accept it because the right makes us wrong.

Being wrong is unacceptable.

Even if we think we’re right it doesn’t make it so. A hardened heart still suffers and blames God.

Who is this God we do not see?

Who is this God we do not understand?

Who is this God?

Wisdom and understanding come from the Lord. We can only know Him if He makes Himself known. He doesn’t knock us off our feet or bruise our rebellious bodies. He doesn’t shake us or yell into our stubborn soul. Our obstinate hearts are not crushed.

He is never found by the rebellious, stubborn or obstinate.

He moves toward the free will turned to Him. Here the real God is known. He is present in the union of the yielded heart, opened Word and Holy Spirit. He comes silently and whispers into the willing soul.

A free will released to God will find Him.

Then those who know Him are not ashamed.

Their reward is more than delightful.

They are His and He is their God.

In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence. (Ephesians 3:12)

I yield before Him. He touches my soul. He alone shows Himself to me. I am overwhelmed and humbled in His presence. I see. I hear. My mind is free to grasp the reality of God. My heart, my burning heart, is softened to receive Him. He touches with love and I know Him. I know my God.

The Lord God has spoken. I will listen. I am His chosen. He has made me, formed me in the womb and he will help me. I will not be afraid.

This is what the LORD says – the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker...It is I who made the earth and created mankind on it. My own hands stretched out the heavens; I marshaled their starry hosts…For this is what the LORD says – He who created the heavens, He is God; He who fashioned and made the earth, He founded it; He did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited – He says: I am the LORD, and there is no other. I have not spoken in secret, from somewhere in a land of darkness; I have not said… ‘Seek Me in vain.’ I, the LORD, speak the truth; I declare what is right.” (Isaiah 45: 11a, 12, 18-19)

Will you join me? Can you hear Him? He is here.

Listen to Me, you stubborn-hearted, you who are now far from my righteousness. I am bringing my righteousness near, it is not far away; and My salvation will not be delayed…(Isaiah 46: 12-13a)

“Turn to Me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other. By myself I have sworn, my mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked: Before Me every knew will bow; by Me every tongue will swear. They will say of Me, ‘In the LORD alone are deliverance and strength. (Isaiah 45: 22-24a)

Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. (Isaiah 45: 4)

God is a God of His Word!  Be still and know He is God.
