Be Still

Description

It's important to exalt God and to observe “who” He is—because if we do not force ourselves to slow down and realize who ultimately is in control of this earth, then we begin to believe that WE are in control!

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalms 46:10

In a mom’s world, being still is usually not a part of our day. Even when children are taking naps or at school, there is much work for a mom to do—being still is a luxury. But, God wants us to carve out some time in our day to be still and to acknowledge that He is God.

It is important to exalt God and to observe “who” He is, because if we do not force ourselves to slow down and realize who is ultimately in control of this earth, then we begin to believe the lie that WE are in control. We are not in control and do not need to be in control. Our human natures are always seeking the role of controller; therefore, we need to hit a pause button throughout our days and realize “who” God is and acknowledge His sovereignty.

Whether you are in the car pool line at school, nursing a baby in the middle of the night, preparing dinner for your family, folding countless loads of laundry—hit the pause button. Say out loud to yourself, “God, You alone are to be exalted. You alone are Lord over all.  I give You this day.”

Prayer

Father, thank You for being God. Thank You that You are in control and that You are Master and Lord over all. Father, I pray that I would discipline myself to hit the pause button during my day and to acknowledge that You are sovereign and Lord over all.
