Be Safe

World Vision distributed water purification tablets for families affected by the April 2015 earthquake in Nepal.

Amrita Thapa, a health post coordinator receives chlorine tablets from Margarettha Siregar, a World Vision specialist in water, sanitation, and hygiene.

"The purpose of these tablets is that it helps eliminate pathogens in the water. It prevents contamination of water and reduces the risks of diarrhoea and other water-borne diseases," Margarettha says.

The earthquake broke water pipes, dams, and storage tanks. Some wells dried up and others were contaminated by intrusion of hazardous materials.
