Commit your way to the LORD; trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. (Psalm 37:5, NKJV)
Need some encouragement today? Wondering about God’s plan for you? His pathway? Need some direction for your journey? Today, you can rest in this great reality: God is with you, for you and on your side! Let’s look at this familiar Scripture:
Commit: This means to roll, roll away, roll down or roll together. In other words, when we commit our way to Lord, we are rolling it away from us – away from our thoughts, minds and emotions – to Him. We are rolling our way onto the Lord. "To commit our way to the Lord" means to give it to Him, to roll the care of our way onto Him (Psalm 16:3, 55:22). What thoughts about your life or future are weighing you down? What concerns or questions do you have? Why not roll them on the Lord today?
Your Way: This means your road, your journey, your path or your direction. God knows your road; He knows what way your journey is to take; He knows the path and direction for your life – so you can roll it onto the Lord. What does your road look like? Where will your journey take you? What path does God want you to follow? What direction should you go? He knows and He will guide you!
Trust: This means to have confidence, to be bold, to be secure, to be safe and "careless." In other words, when we roll our journey on the Lord, we can have confidence and can be carefree in Him! When we trust the Lord with our whole heart – we are confident and secure! Anxiety and fear fly out the door. Today, you can be "careless" as you trust the Lord!
He Shall Bring It To Pass: This phrase is rich in meaning. It means that the Lord will do – fashion, accomplish, make and produce His will in our path, journey and direction; the Lord will prepare, attend to, put in order, acquire, appoint, ordain and bring about His will in our lives. This is good news! The Almighty God of the universe has promised – and He has the power, ability and willingness – to bring things to pass in our lives!
If we put all of these pieces together, what do we have? We have great encouragement! We can rejoice and rest in the reality that the Lord will prepare, attend to, put in order, acquire, appoint, ordain and bring about His plans and purposes along the road of our life's journey as we commit our way to the Lord and trust in Him.
Say It: “Father, thank You for the comfort and joy I find, knowing that as I commit and roll my journey onto You and as I confidently trust You, You are preparing, accomplishing, producing and bringing about Your plans and purposes in the direction of my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
