Be a Spark Plug

"…your zeal has stirred up most of them." 2 Corinthians 9:2, ESV

Do you know that you can be a spark plug for others? Your zeal – your passion and excitement – can be a catalyst that stirs people up. Zeal is contagious!

In this passage in 2 Corinthians, the Apostle Paul was talking about the zeal the Corinthians had for generous giving – and this same principle can be applied to many things. When we are passionate, fervent, pumped, excited, moved and zealous for godly things – it ignites others.

What are you zealous for? Don’t bottle that zeal up. Don’t suppress it. Don’t be a flat liner. Don’t be neutral. Don’t be politically correct. Don’t quench the zeal – let it out! Let your zeal for the Lord be a spark plug to inspire others around you.

Today…

Work with zeal…and others will wonder what you’re taking.

Love with zeal…and others will want to get in your line for a hug, note, gift or encouraging word.

Praise God with zeal…and others will be inspired to shout to God and jump in the deep end with you.

Hear the Word with zeal…and others will be more attentive to sit up and listen with expectancy.

Share the gospel with zeal…and others will believe that you believe it, and they’ll believe!

Be zealous for His Church…and others will get on board to stand up and be counted in the House!

Pray with zeal…and others will be drawn like a magnet to talk to the God you apparently seem to know.

Serve with zeal…and others will want to be a part of something that is making a difference in this world.

Give generously with zeal…and others will be inspired to throw caution to the wind and take their own giving up a notch.

Today – why not throw some of your cool, laid-back dignity out the window and just be zealous for life and the Lord!

“Never lag in zeal and in earnest endeavor; be aglow and burning with the Spirit, serving the Lord.” (Romans 12:11, AMP)

Say It: “Father, today I throw off the temptation to be too cool, laid-back and dignified. I renounce apathy, passivity, neutrality, political-correctness and flat-line living. I am passionate, pumped, excited and zealous for the Lord, for His House, for His stuff. I pray that You use me to be the type of person who is a spark-plug and a catalyst for things that matter to You for those around me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
