Authenticity Over Hypocrisy

Description

Hypocrisy isn't only detrimental and dangerous in our own lives, it can be devastating to the lives of those around us as well.

"… you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.” Matthew 23:13

THINK

Throughout this week, we've been looking at the reality of hypocrisy and seen how exhausting it can be in our own lives. But hypocrisy isn't only detrimental and dangerous in our own lives, it can be devastating to the lives of those around us as well.

The reality is that we may be the only example of Jesus that the people in our lives see. And if what we show them is a mask-covered example of what it means to follow Jesus, we can hinder them from ever wanting anything to do with Jesus. Don’t risk that. Instead, show people the real you. Because the truth is that authenticity, not hypocrisy, may be the very thing that helps them pursue a relationship with Christ.

PRAY

Ask God to use you as a true, authentic example in the lives of those people around you. Pray for opportunities to point others to Christ, in every situation you face.

ACT

Live a life of influence. Think about two people you can invite to join you this weekend – people who have never stepped foot through the doors of Fellowship Church. And text them an invitation to this weekend’s worship experiences.
