At the Cross is Where We Take Our Stand
Description
Hear
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).
Believe
The assurance of forgiveness is the bedrock upon which every other initiative builds. At the cross is where we take our stand in the love of Jesus Christ.
Even with the clear declaration of God’s word that our sins – past, present and future – have been forgiven through the finished work of Jesus Christ, Christians still struggle with fear and guilt. They wonder if they’ve been forgiven or not.
Confusion on this most fundamental truth hampers every other aspect of the Christian life.
The first place I go with someone struggling to live the Christian life is the forgiveness issue. A life filled with confusion, doubt and fear is not God’s plan for you. He wants to clear away these things in your life, and He does so by connecting you to His overwhelming love and grace.
We see this love on full display at the cross. Jesus’ act of grace through death brings this forgiveness to our hearts.
Do you know that God has forgiven your sins? If not, do you long to know God’s forgiveness? Do you want to experience rest and peace and assurance?
The Gospel tells you this: You can know and experience God’s forgiveness. What you are looking for is found in Christ’s finished work on the cross.
Live
If you want to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ and experience his love, the cross is the place to start. This most important of all questions, “Has God forgiven my sin?” is answered in the death of Jesus Christ. The answer is YES -- absolutely, positively yes!
Nowhere is love more visible than at the cross where we stand in the blood-soaked, love-soaked ground beneath Jesus. Let the reality of the forgiveness won that day anchor your soul.
