Are You Truly Listening?
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. James 1:22
Riding waves starts with understanding the anatomy of a wave. You've got to know what makes good waves good, and what makes great waves great. You've got to understand the cycle of a wave, sets of waves, and what happens when a wave hits the shore. But all that knowledge and understanding mean nothing if you never actually get in the water.
The same thing is true when it comes to the waves God has for us. We can understand all about the weather events in our lives (what we are facing), the strong wind that blows in (the Holy Spirit), and the right location (the Church) - all of which are crucial elements of the waves. But until we actually get in the water and do something, we will never experience the thrill of riding those waves. Riding waves starts with truly listening. And truly listening means both hearing and doing! What are you doing with what you learn about God's Word?
Ask God for the ability to truly listen to His Word, His Truth, and His plan for your life. Then, pray for the courage and ability to do something with that in your life to experience the waves He has for you.
Act on the knowledge you have. Get in the water of the local church this weekend!
