In this excerpt from God's Blogs, find out what God might say if He wrote a blog about anger.

You all know people who struggle because they have problems now and then controlling their anger. Most of you know what it feels like for anger to grab hold of your soul and take control, even when you don’t want it to.

Since I created anger and meant for it to be a part of your life, it does have its place. However, My intent was for anger to motivate you so that when you saw things that were wrong, you would do what was in your power to make them right. This doesn’t mean to lash out when you feel you personally have been wronged.

Anger was placed inside your genes to help change things that you know I want changed. It is kinda like pain. I created pain in your body to alert you when something is wrong with your system and so you can do something about it. Your anger response is part of your genetic makeup for basically the same reason. When you are aware that something is wrong with the system I created (people are getting hurt; they are starving or dying for reasons of neglect or selfishness; people or institutions are doing things that misrepresent Me), then anger helps you to do something about it. I must say that you’ve drifted a long way from that perspective.

Think about this. Anger happens within most of you most of the time for one simple reason. You don’t get what you want.

It’s pretty much that simple.

You want something and you can’t have it so you get angry and your anger controls you and consequently people get hurt.

But—I’M sure you’ve noticed—this kind of anger results in yelling, screaming, arguing, hitting, hurting, stress, depression, revenge, drug use, relational disorders, and more physiological and psychological disturbances than any of you even know of yet.

It messes things up on the cellular level that escalates to a universal level that can last for generations. All because you want something and you just can’t have it.

Step back, and see the larger picture: I created you. I love you more than you love yourself. I want the very best for you, and I know all your needs and everything it takes to make your life as fulfilled as it can possibly be.

If there is something you want and you don’t get it… the chances are extremely high that you don’t really want it.

Why? Because you want the best thing for you, and you don’t know all the time what that is. You can’t see the big picture.

But hey! I do.

For example, if you don’t have it, that probably means I don’t think you’re supposed to yet. Or ever. Which would mean whatever it is you want that you don’t have—if you got it, your life would be not as full (emptier).

Are you following this? Get to know Me. When you get to know Me, you will begin to know better My thoughts and My desires for you. And you will learn to trust Me. And then when your human heart says,“I want that!” there will be a part of you that says, “Only if You want it for me, God.”

And when your heart gets to that point, anger subsides. (I created a thing called patience that grows in you when you grow in Me.) And when your heart gets better, so does the rest of your body and all your relationships, and then, all of a sudden, you live longer and love more… and all the things you really want become yours.

That’s what I meant when I said, “By losing your life, you find it” and by “loving your life, you lose it.”

Okay, I know there are a lot of you who actually are consumed, and it doesn’t help a lot to hear somebody say “Chill out”…which is how I thought about ending this.

I know you can’t just decide to chill out. And it takes a while for a personality to change.

So take some time. Process. Next time you feel yourself tighten up, and you know your face is red, and you’re ready to yell or lash out, and you know that your anger is just about to take over, think about what it is that you want that you can’t have (the thing that is making you angry).

Then try to remember. The only way to really get what you want is to give it up. Then you’ll get what you really want… way down in the depths of your soul.

One more thing. I’M here for ya. Hang with Me for a while.

Get to know Me. Learn to trust Me. Then you’ll know what I want and you’ll want what I want. And what I want is for some of your wants to change… and if they do… we’ll all get what we want.

Have a nice day.
