Alone Never, Always Accompanied by the Spirit
Lonely people sit on park benches by themselves. But lonely Christians are encircled by God. God the Holy Spirit shares the same attributes as the Father and the Son. In the wonderful and beautiful Psalm 139, David the Psalmist described the ever present care of God. Wherever David may be, and that includes Hell itself, God is there to take care of him. As God the Father is continually present within our lives, so the Holy Spirit is. We are safe wherever we go.
Where can I go from your Spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, if I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will lay hold of me. (Psalm 139:7-10)
No matter how far we fall, God is there to take care of us. Why does he do this? It is because as God is faithful to the Spirit, and the Spirit is faithful to God, so they too are faithful to us. They cannot deny themselves. So as we sin and as we flee from God's presence, his love is there to take care of us. His love is manifest through the presence of the Spirit of God.
