Air and the Holy Spirit
Have you ever felt the air leave the room?
Without air in the room we can’t say any words, or have any relationships. In the same way the Holy Spirit is like the air in our relationship to God. This is what King David had to say in his confession concerning sin in Psalm 51.
Do not cast me away from your presence, and do not take your Holy Spirit from me. (Psalm 51:11)
On the one hand, he did not want to lose the presence of God. On the other hand, he did not want the Holy Spirit to be taken away. We can see in the context that one is directly related to the other. In our day-to-day relationship with God the Father, it is the Holy Spirit who gives us the empowerment and insight for a conversation with our Father. God the Holy Spirit creates the environment within our hearts for healthy conversations with God that we call prayer. So as the children of God, we should be tremendously appreciative of the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. He is the Spiritual air of our lives.
