Abounding Joy

Joy bubbles over for Leini Michel, 6, a first grade student in the Dominican Republic.

What makes her happy? School!

"I like to draw and color...and play with building blocks," she says. Leini also likes to play with dolls. Her favorite colors are red, green, and blue.

Leini’s mother, Leidy Rojas, 29, is gone most of the day selling beauty products door-to-door. Her father, a policeman, was killed in the line of duty about five years ago.

Leidy and Leini live with Leidy’s sister Angela Maria, 39, and her son 7-month-old son Frandel. The two women struggle to provide for their children, but they are rich in love and faith.
