A Worthwhile Response

00:00

Description

We must understand how deeply we have been blessed before we can give a deeply spiritual response.

Paul the apostle neatly divided the book of Ephesians into 2 parts. Chapters 1 through 3 described how God has treated us wonderfully well. Chapters 4 through 6 tell us what is a worthwhile response to the grace of God. Verses 1 and 2 of chapter 4 are the pivotal transitional verses to the rest of the book.

I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, entreat you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called,

2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing forbearance to one another in love—(Eph 4:1-2).

Notice that he calls for an attitude of gentleness and humility as we walk in our Christian life. The outline of Ephesians underscores a tremendously important spiritual principle: we must understand how deeply we have been blessed before we can give a deeply spiritual response. Never get one in front of the other. We must understand our spiritual privileges before we can give a spiritual response.
