A Spring of Water

Description

If you’re looking for satisfaction from the wells of the world, you’ll soon be thirsty again.

Whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life. John 4:14

As Jesus watched the Samaritan woman come to the well to draw water, He knew her heart was empty, without love or self-worth or meaning or happiness. He gently but pointedly said to her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again” (John 4:13).

Can you imagine her surprise? The woman thought He meant the water in Jacob’s well, but Jesus was speaking to her heart.

If you’re looking for satisfaction from the wells of pleasure, popularity, position, prestige, money, fame, even religion, you’ll soon be thirsty again. The world can give you meaning and pleasure — temporarily. But you’re wasting your time. It’ll eventually leave you wondering, “Is that all there is?”

Jesus tells us to drink the water He gives us, and we will never thirst. The Living Water is Jesus. He will be “a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” Drink deeply today.
