A Remarkable Exchange
2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV®)
God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
God orchestrated a divine exchange, where the perfect, sinless, obedient Son of God received what we deserved in order that we might receive what He deserved. And the exchange included far more than just the forgiveness of sins. Jesus was punished that we might be forgiven. He suffered physically that we might know healing and health. He was made sin with our sinfulness that we might be righteous with His righteousness. He was made a curse that we might have His blessings. He endured our poverty that we might know His abundance. He bore our shame that we might share in His glory. He endured our rejection that we might have His acceptance. It was a remarkable exchange, the likes of which the world had never experienced before nor will again.
Heavenly Father, thank You for the exchanges made possible because of Your obedience on the cross. Only You could take the limits of my life and turn them into doorways of possibility. I choose to put my faith in You. Open my heart to believe in You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
