A Pure Life
Titus 2:13-14 (NIV®)
Jesus Christ . . . gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
Paul is writing to Titus about the return of the Lord, and verse 14 gives us an objective of God: to purify a people for Himself. So, if you’re ever wondering what is God up to in your life, it is stated very plainly: to purify you. Sometimes we think that God’s objective should be to make us happy or successful or fulfilled, but that doesn’t seem to be His primary concern. Certainly, purity is difficult to achieve, and none of us will ever be completely successful during our days in the earth. But if purity is something that God is committed to, then I want to try to cooperate with that. Ask the Lord to show you what a more pure life would look like for you today.
Heavenly Father, I want to live a life that is pure before You—the words I say, the thoughts I think, the attitudes I hold. Help me to think and act in a way that pleases You so that my life will bring honor and glory to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
