A Position of Strength

Waiting is a position of strength, not a position of defeat or failure or inadequacy.

Psalm 37:7-9 (NIV®)

Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret―it leads only to evil. For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the LORD will inherit the land.

Do you ever get agitated when ungodly people prosper? I do. The psalmist says we should not only wait patiently for our own inheritance, we should not be concerned about the wicked who are doing well right now. From a biblical perspective, waiting is a position of strength, not a position of defeat or failure or inadequacy. If you’re in a season where you are waiting to see the evidence of God at work in your life, rejoice. Something is being formed in you that will make you useful in God’s hand that would not come any other way.

Heavenly Father, thank You for all that You have done on my behalf. You have delivered me, rescued me from an empty life, and welcomed me into the Kingdom of Your Son. I choose to rejoice today as I wait on You. My trust is in Your gracious love for me. I choose to rest in Your strength and faithfulness. Holy Spirit, help me to receive all that God intends. In Jesus’ name, amen.
