A New You
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV®)
And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
Some of us imagine that to be a Christ-follower means that God has picked us up, dusted us off, and given us a fresh coat of paint. That’s not at all what the Bible teaches. It says to be in Christ—to accept Jesus of Nazareth as Lord, Christ, and King of your life—means you become a totally new creature. I know I look like the old Allen. I’ve still got a southern accent, and I still love junk food. But the truth is, in Christ, I have become a new person. Yes, my sins have been forgiven. But the Holy Spirit continues to transform me so that I better reflect the likeness and glory of Christ. When you follow Jesus, you will have a different set of desires and abilities than you had before Jesus. And you will have a far better future!
Heavenly Father, I want to be like Jesus. I want to have His love for You, and His love and compassion for people. I want to have His priorities as I live and minister in this world. Holy Spirit, transform me so that I reflect the likeness and glory of Christ to everyone I encounter today. In His name I pray, amen.
