A New You
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
We often hear advertisers claiming they can help us create “a new you.” It is usually something which requires us to start a new diet or take a new fitness class, perhaps even more than that. When someone becomes a follower of Jesus Christ an amazing transformation takes place. At that point we become “a new creation.” God creates in us “a new you.” Many of old, hard to break, habits and attitudes start to disappear. Have you experienced that in your life? Or are you hanging on to the old you?
Ask God to cause you to let go of the old you and to be able to take full hold of the new creation that comes from faith in Christ and from having Christ within you.
Part of the process of change is perhaps to review your schedule, the places you go and the people you hang with. Think about what causes the “old you” to reappear. Is it doing the same old things in the same old places. The best place to build relationships is in the local church.
