A Matter of Life or Death

Description

The strength to do what is right is within you if you choose to live by the Spirit and not by the flesh.

FOR IF YOU LIVE ACCORDING TO THE FLESH, YOU WILL DIE; BUT IF BY THE SPIRIT YOU PUT TO DEATH THE MISDEEDS OF THE BODY, YOU WILL LIVE. - ROMANS 8:13

A diabetic is dependent upon insulin. A cancer diagnosis demands medical treatment. For the blind, a cane or a seeing-eye dog is essential. These are matters of life or death.

The Bible teaches of another such matter. It is an ongoing war within the believer that simply must be won by the right side! It is spiritual life versus spiritual death.

The Holy Spirit indwells believers in Christ. Jesus Himself taught His followers about this third part of the Trinity before he ascended into heaven. He promised that a Helper would come. This Helper, the Holy Spirit, sometimes referred to as our Counselor, also guides us in truth.

If you are a Christian, the Holy Spirit is your personal power source. The strength to do what is right is within you if you choose to live by the Spirit and not by the flesh. You will be tempted to follow voices that tell you to do as you please or that "it's okay if it feels right." You will experience anger and other emotions that can lead you astray in life. But if you pay attention, your Helper, the Holy Spirit, will reveal the Father's ways.

It is a matter of life or death. Which will you choose?

LET'S PRAY:

Father, today I choose life. May Your Holy Spirit lead me in truth. Amen.
