A Lifetime of Small Miracles
Description
One day my boys asked me what would’ve happened if I hadn’t gone into the ministry.
“Well,” I said, “the two of you wouldn’t be here.”
“Why is that?” they asked.
“Because I met your mother at seminary. And if I hadn’t gone into the ministry, I would’ve never met her, which means the two of you wouldn’t have been born.”
Have you ever sat down and thought how different your life would be if just one detail was slightly different? If a meeting that happened, didn’t happen?
Yes, it’s a small miracle I met Jeannie.
It’s a small miracle my father met my mother (he intentionally tripped her at the skating rink).
It’s a miracle my dad ended up in electronics. He failed the test three times. If he hadn’t been in electronics, we would’ve never moved to Huntsville.
What if I’d gone to another school? What if? Well, you get the picture.
Our lives are filled with small miracles so casual and natural in their appearance that we often don’t see them as miracles at all. Yet, if these small miracles hadn’t taken place, the bigger miracles wouldn’t have happened either.
Take a moment. Look back at your life. Find those times when the little things of your life opened the way for the bigger miracles of your life.
Being able to understand how God has worked in our past helps us to recognize how God is working now.
And He is working…
