A Heart Exposed

Open your heart to God. He will cleanse you and give you peace.

O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. PSALM 139:1 – 2

Is there a wall around your heart? A wall of pride or doubt, shame or anger? Did you think if you opened your heart and let God see inside He would blame you for what He finds there? Or for what He doesn’t find? That He would fault you for your lack of faith?

In Psalm 139:23 – 24, David prayed: “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me, and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” You can’t hide anything from God — not your thoughts, your feelings, or your desires. Why would you want to? You and I can be so foolish!

Open up your heart. Expose it to Him. It takes courage to let Him see exactly how you feel, what you think, what you want. But don’t hide what’s in your heart or pretend it’s not there. Open it all up to Him. He will cleanse you … and give you peace.
