A Glimpse of Your Purpose

Do you desire to live for God but find that you're losing your strength? When you need renewal, Christ is there!

How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who announces peace and brings good news of happiness, who announces salvation, and says to Zion, "Your God reigns!"  Isaiah 52:7

Have you ever been so tired and worn from the pressures and demands of the world, maybe even the Church – that your joy in serving seems to wane?  And, without that motivation and enthusiasm – it almost seems pointless.  But, then… at just the right time – when God has your full attention – He allows a glimpse of your purpose to shine through…like a cool breeze after a long, hot afternoon… it carries with it the promise of life and rest and energies renewed.

These past few months have been precisely such. I am in a position at church that demands much of me. It is not impossible, but it will take as much as I am willing to give. Though my talents lie elsewhere, I feel God has called me to pour my life out in this place.

After a long summer with crazy schedules all around – my energies are spent.  I have been so busy, I have even neglected my dearest times in scripture and in writing these blogs and a dozen other past times I adore. The result?  I have been operating out of my own strength the last couple of weeks, and it shows.

But – at my weakest point… when I began questioning my place in this world, wondering whether my energies have been wasted or wisely invested… three beautiful children within our kids ministry at Oak Leaf Church came to the knowledge of truth and responded to God’s calling on their lives.  And… I am in awe. I am reminded what it’s all for, and my strength is again renewed.

Prayer: Thank you Sweet Jesus for calling us to yourself! Thank you for allowing us to play a part in Your story. Thank you that you never put more on us than we can bear. Thank you for givnig us a glimpse of the bigger picture when we need it most.  We love you, LORD!
