A Fork in the Road!
Description
James 1:5-8 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
Yogi Berra is credited with saying, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it!” It seems sometimes that my mind is made up of a constant fork in the road, or maybe it’s more like a huge roundabout with 18 different spokes of road going each and every direction. I take one and it only leads to another, bigger series of twists and turns that need to be navigated.
I think James is telling us that we really have two roads we can travel. One is a road that is based on belief in God; in who He is and in His promises. The other road is based upon doubt of who He is and what He can do for us. Pick a road, stay on it; stop changing lanes and moving from one to the other. It will make a huge difference in your mind, in your stability, and in your fuel tank.
