A Father's Love

Remember that God’s love isn't based on our performance.

I think my husband found a new sleeping aid for kids! Hi, I’m Renee Swope for Proverbs 31 Ministries.

My son Andrew, who was 6 at the time, couldn't fall asleep. JJ tried telling him bedtime stories, singing songs and even rubbed his head, hoping that would calm him down. But it didn't work. Finally JJ asked God to please help Andrew fall asleep!

Then, JJ remembered how that morning he’d been stressed about about work, and God prompted him to read in the Bible about His Heavenly Father’s “unconditional” love.

Remembering how God’s love isn't based on his performance helped JJ  overcome his worries.

Well, JJ sensed Andrew needed to know the same thing, so he looked in his eyes and said ”Andrew, I love you, and I will always love you—no matter what!” Andrew whispered, “I love you, too, Daddy!”—and he fell asleep in JJ’s arms.
