A Different Kind of Life

Description

As you go about your day today, be more aware of the road you are traveling. It’s never too late to change courses, but first you must awaken to the path you are on.

Titus 2:11-12

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.  It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.

There are two different types of lives we can choose to live.  We can live “for” ourselves or “for” others. The way of the world and our human nature will always push us to look out for ourselves. But, through the grace of God and His salvation for us, we can choose to live self-controlled lives.  A life that is full of Godly self-control will strive to put others first- relationships before material things. Our desires and constant need for more material things will begin to diminish and will be replaced by love for others

We must choose which road we want to travel.  We must ask ourselves, do I want to try to fill a bottomless pit of greed and selfishness, or do I want to drink from a well, where the water is overflowing and never runs dry? Sometimes in life, we have to look past the here and now for greater gain in the future.

As you go about your day today, be more aware of the road you are traveling. It’s never too late to change courses, but first you must awaken to the path you are on. If the pressures of life consume you and you are always striving to keep up with your friends, then it might be time to start living a life free from worldly passions.

Prayer: Father, I want to live a life that glorifies You.  Lord, I want to walk away from the desire of always wanting more: more material things, more money, more vacations, just more. God, take away my lust to keep up with the world and instill in me self control and a loving heart towards others.  Help me push past my greed and turn my heart completely to You and Your ways.
