A Careful Scrutiny

Have you examined your work lately? Invite Jesus to serve as the foundation for all you do.

“But let every person carefully scrutinize and examine and test his own conduct and his own work. He can then have the personal satisfaction and joy of doing something commendable [in itself alone] without [resorting to] boastful comparison with his neighbor.” (Galatians 6:4, AMP)

In 2009, I faced a crisis in my business. I lost my desire for coaching and doing “business as usual.” I needed more or I needed out. I cried out to God. He showed me His desire was that my faith and relationship with Jesus serve as the driving force in my life.

Suddenly, I was filled with a longing to invite Jesus into every area of my life. I began to scrutinize my behavior and ask: (1) Do I put God first in my business life or do I edge Him out? (2) Do I submit to Him in all that I do? (3) Do I honor God with my work or leave Him at home? (4) Do I practice stillness, pray, and listen for an answer before taking action? (5) Do I turn to God’s Word as the final authority in my business?” I asked God to show me His will. I invited Him to take charge and committed that whatever He told me to do, I would do it.

God overhauled my business by taking these steps, He: (1) showed me how to turn proposals into covenant agreements (giving clients the advantage) (2) gave me new tools to help my clients renew their minds with His Word (3) told me to take my Bible to every meeting and use it as the final reference for all discussions (4) directed me to open and close every meeting or call with prayer (5) showed me how to teach my clients to use their mouth as a divine instrument (6) encouraged me to teach my clients to submit to authority (7) told me to look into the spiritual realm and take spiritual action first in every situation (8) taught me how to walk in His power, and authority.

I stand in amazement at what God has done and the results I see on a daily basis. Child of God, I encourage you to examine your daily work life. Invite Jesus to serve as the foundation for all you do.

Lord, thank you for your Word. Holy Spirit, test and examine my heart. Help me Jesus to submit every area of my life to you. Through the blood of Jesus and in the name of Jesus I pray, amen.
