A Call and a Purpose

God calls many people, Jesus said, but the chosen are few.

2 Timothy 1:9

God, who has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace.

To be saved, to be birthed into the kingdom of God, is to be called of God. Some people think that only “professional Christians” are called. People will say to me, “Pastor, we are so glad God called you.” But just as certainly as you believe God would call someone to be a pastor, God has a call on your life. And someday God will ask each of us to give an account for the call on our lives. I want to be ready, don’t you?

Heavenly Father, thank You that You have called me for a purpose in Your Kingdom. You know me better than I know myself, so help me be sensitive to Your plans for me. Give me wisdom and discernment as I work out Your call on my life day by day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
