A Beautiful Thing
“Leave her alone,” said Jesus. “Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me.”
The woman in this story lavishly poured an expensive bottle of perfume over Jesus’ head. She did this seemingly frivolous act out of pure love and devotion to her Savior. She did not care about the expense of the perfume or that she was “wasting” it. No, Jesus was far more precious to her than money. She knew, first hand, of Jesus’ love for her. His acceptance and forgiveness in her life had changed her forever; she was free from her sin, her guilt, and her shame. She did care how much the perfume cost...that was the point...she wanted to show her adoration to her Lord and Savior.
Jesus accepted her gift. When everyone else was pushing her away, condemning her for being wasteful and negligent with the perfume, Jesus knew her heart and accepted her lavish gift. The type of love Jesus had for this woman is the same type of love He has for you. No matter what your past is, you have been forgiven. No matter how big of a mistake you have made, you are loved and accepted. Jesus is calling to you today, saying, “Accept my gift of forgiveness, and allow me to wash my love all over you so you can experience freedom and a life without shame.”
As a mom, you need to accept Jesus’ love for you, so you can walk out in freedom and then go teach that to your children. What a gift you will be giving your children. For a child to know they are loved and forgiven no matter what they do- that is a gift that is priceless.
Father, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for accepting me even though I don’t deserve Your acceptance. I give my life to You and I gladly accept Your love and forgiveness for me.
