5 Fun Ways to Share Jesus with Your School This Year

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Jesus

You know that building where you go to learn math, science, and history? That’s not just your school. It’s your mission field! (Psst. . . that’s true whether you go to public school, private school, or are homeschooled.)

How can you point people to Jesus this school year? Here are five fun ideas to try.

1. A Secret Note in the Library

Write out your favorite Bible verses on index cards, and randomly place them in books in the library. Here are a few of my favorites to get you started.

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well” (Ps. 139:14).

“The LORD appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you” (Jer. 31:3).

“God said to Moses, ‘I AM WHO I AM.’ And he said, ‘Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you'” (Ex. 3:14).

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28).

Consider putting information about your church or youth group on the back.

2. Ding, Dong, Ditch the Teachers’ Lounge

You can display your faith by honoring those who are in authority over you.

Teachers need Jesus, too! Did you know one way you can display your faith is by honoring those who are in authority over you?

“Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. . . . Pay to all what is owed to them; taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed” (Rom. 13:1, 7).

Show respect to your teachers in class, but go above and beyond that. Leave treats and thank-you notes in the teachers’ lounge. Let your teachers know you will be praying for them this school year.

3. Start a Good Deed Revolution

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matt. 5:16).

When you are good to others, you point a spotlight toward the God who is good all the time. Why not make random acts of kindness a trend at your school?

Carry someone’s books.

Wipe the desks.

Put a bouquet of flowers in the office.

Adopt an underclassman and show them the ropes.

Leave change in the vending machines.

Set a goal to smile at ten people each day.

Pay someone’s library fine.

Organize a school-wide canned food drive.

The possibilities are endless.

Use social media to spread the word. Create your own hashtag #bekind(insert your school’s mascot here).

4. Walk and Talk

As you walk the halls of your school every day, talk to God about what you’d like to see Him do this school year. Pray for lost friends on your campus, and ask Him to help you stand for truth.

God wants us to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thess. 5:17). That means pray as you’re coming and going, before the first bell and final bell, on your way to math class and gym class. Recruit some praying friends to join you in prayer walking your school.

5. Make Your Locker a Billboard

We already encouraged you to decorate your locker with truth! Use your locker as a billboard to declare your faith.
