3 Questions We Must Ask Before Reacting

00:00

Description

If we control our reactions in the short-term, we won’t have to live with regret in the long-term.

My heart raced as I saw a certain number pop up on my phone.

I was hurt, angry and tired of being misunderstood.

I answered the call with two goals in mind – to prove how right I was and how wrong they were. And that didn’t go over well.

I’m learning I can have a better approach by asking myself 3 questions ahead of time:

  •      What part of this issue can I own and apologize for?
  •      How can I soften my heart toward this person so I honor them despite how they react?
  •      If I knew this was being taped and shown to people I greatly respect, how would that change my reaction?

These questions are good to consider. If we control our reactions in the short-term, we won’t have to live with regret in the long-term.
