Keith Ferrin tells of a timeless hymn that reminds us of the goodness and sovereignty of God.

I had Pandora on in the car today. The second song “randomly” chosen was This Is My Father’s World by Fernando Ortega.

According to Wikipedia, the hymn was written at the turn of the century by New York pastor, Maltbie Babcock. It actually wasn’t published until after he died in 1901.

Take a slow read through these lyrics:

This is my Father’s world and to my listening ears,
all nature sings and ‘round me rings the music of the spheres.

Not to get overly dramatic, but these more-than-a-century-old lyrics were a wonderful reminder that God is good. He is in control. He is big. He is bigger. He is enough. And all will – one day – be well.
