1 Samuel 10
Samuel took Saul aside and privately anointed him with a flask of oil to be the ruler over the Lord’s inheritance. In specific terms, Samuel predicted the immediate course of events and instructed Saul as to what to do. A transforming moment would take place when the Spirit of the Lord would come upon him and turn him into another man. After the Spirit of God came upon Saul and he prophesied among the prophets, Samuel called the people together to behold the man God had set apart to become their king. When they saw his impressive appearance, they shouted and said, “Long live the king!”
Reading of 1 Samuel 10
Prayer: Lord, keep me from looking at people and circumstances from an outward and superficial perspective. I ask that the mind of Christ would grow in me, and that I would come to see things more from a biblical perspective.
