1 Corinthians 7

Description

A tour of 1 Corinthians 7 with Ken Boa.

In chapters 7-16, Paul discusses specific questions that have been raised and offers spiritual perspectives on four areas. First, he takes up the issues of marriage, celibacy, divorce, and remarriage in chapter 7. The apostle affirms the place of marriage in the economy of God but at the same time teaches that those who have the gift of celibacy would do better not to marry in order that they may be focused on the things of the Lord. Those who are married do not have authority over their own bodies, but should seek to please their spouse. Those who are called to remain unmarried have the advantage of “undistracted devotion to the Lord” which Paul regards as an advantage in view of Christ’s imminent return.
