Be Kind to Each Other
Be Kind to Each Other

Switched Quote: “Be kind to each other, if you realize that now you will save yourself so much grief in the future”

Switched Scripture: “For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.”' (Galatians 5:14)

For three years Jesus traveled and taught God’s word. Most of the time he taught, healed and listened to ordinary hard working people. When he talked with religious scholars he always turned the common understanding of the scripture upside down. The Jews would have been very familiar with the teaching of the Torah which instructed them to put God first. This instruction would have felt like a law, something written in the sand that they should obey.

Here in Galatians when Paul writes that the entire law is fulfilled in keeping one command that would have been revolutionary. The People would be familiar with having lists and lists of rules. The new teaching of Jesus was that all the law was wrapped up in the command to love one’s neighbor. It was simple but not easy.

It is the same for us today. Acting in kindness, loving even the person who treats you poorly is one way Jesus can shine through us. It is a simple goal that requires extraordinary help from God.

Switched Prayer: Dear Lord, please search my heart and remove any part of me that could block your love for others. May I be a vessel of love to all I meet, so they will know your love for them. Amen

Cyber Champion: Think of someone you know who needs love, post about them on social media praising their good qualities or highlighting the positive about them. Then ask someone else to do the same. Let’s start a love revolution.
