So many things can create worry and anxiety for us. We worry about our jobs, our family, our health, or our well-being. We can keep ourselves up at night over what may or may not happen, feeling like it’s all out of our control. The truth is, it is out of our control! But nothing is out of God’s control. He knows everything that is happening and He can take care of you in any situation. To overcome anxiety, pray to the God who is in control of it all. Tell Him about your anxiety and ask Him to help you learn how to trust Him more. This post will help you see how prayer should be your first response when anxiety hits, not your last resort.
TE - Overcoming Anxiety Part 2 - Prayers for Victory
Psalm 34:4
God, you are the God of peace, of hope, and of love. In You there is no chaos. Let me live that truth today. Help me remember to pray each time I feel anxious, knowing that You can take care of everything!
Do I pray as a first response, or a last resort when I’m feeling anxious?
Whenever you feel worry or anxiety coming up, whisper a prayer. It can be something as simple as, “Lord, I am feeling anxious; please fill me with peace instead.”
The Bible is full of examples of God’s people coming to Him in prayer during very difficult situations. God wants us to pray -- as a first response, not as a last resort. Prayer can help you focus on what is troubling you, and it is a way to talk with God about your worries so you can find help and guidance for what to do. Another thing prayer does is help us turn our burdens over to God. This is what Jesus wants us to do when we are worried or anxious. The next post explains.
