Change What You Think About God

If you have been dealing with anxiety for a long time, you may see how it casts a cloud over everything -- including what you think about who God is. You might think that you can’t trust God to take care of you, or that He doesn’t care for you, or that He isn’t able or willing to help you. Instead of getting used to living with anxiety and letting it destroy your physical, spiritual, and mental health, learn how to change your thoughts about who God is in your situation.

Romans 8:38-39

Pray

Father, when my anxiety takes over, help me remember who You are and how much You love me. Fill me with Your comfort and remind me how much you care.

Reflect

Who do I tell myself God is in my situation? Have I let my anxiety skew who God is to me?

Respond

Stop letting anxiety destroy your health and thoughts. Remind yourself who God is and that He is much bigger than your anxiety.

The Wrap Up

Knowing the truth of who God is can change your perspective on any situation, so it’s important to make sure you don’t let your worrying or anxiety skew your understanding of God. Take inventory every once in a while to see how your thoughts align (or not) with the truth. The best place to learn the truth of who God is, and who you are in Him, is through Scripture. In fact, Scripture can give you many truths to deal with and overcome your anxiety, as the next post explains.
